Education is fun at this unique playground. Named for the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei, this outdoor learning lab reminds you that the answers are in the stars. A planetarium maps the constellations, sextants show how early explorers navigated by the stars, and telescopes keep your eye on the sky at this interactive and educational playground.
FLOATING BRIDGE PARK
Floating Bridge Park, a 23-acre haven for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, is ideal for catch-and-release fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. To enter, families can cross the floating bridge to enjoy a serene, tree-lined setting and shaded playground where children can enjoy an Overhead Trekker Ladder, Tightrope Bridge, Boogie Board, Talk Tubes, Sol Spinner and other play equipment. The park space also features a boulder play field for rock climbing and an open play area.
A four-acre park and playground, Explorer’s Park features climbers, slides, swings, other play equipment, shaded canopy, with green space large enough for soccer, touch football and other group activities. Residents also enjoy ample seating for relaxing and a quarter-mile walking path encircling the tranquil setting.
IOWA COLONY REGIONAL PARK AT MERIDIANA
Home to over 100 acres of play space, families can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including a game of soccer, Frisbee, kite flying and backstops for baseball. Kids and families alike will enjoy the shaded play structure and pedestrian plaza with tables and chairs, a quadplex basketball court, two grass volleyball courts and a tree-lined walking trail that winds around the perimeter of the central green space.
Grab your rackets, it’s time to serve your opponent! Observation Park is a brand new five-acre park that features a fenced, resident-only tennis court, trails, children?s playground with telescope, splash pad, covered sitting area, lush landscaping and ample onsite parking.
Get your adrenaline pumping at Challenger Park. This three-acre family playground features pickle-ball courts, disc golf, and a full-fitness experience for all levels. Build your confidence on the eight-station Ninja Warrior course and improve your speed, balance, and strength. Those of all fitness levels will enjoy a four-station fitness course providing a complete workout while enjoying the great outdoors.
BIKES & PADDLEBOARD RENTALS
Explore Meridiana’s parks and trails by land or water when you rent a paddleboard or bicycle at our Welcome Center. Free for residents, these 2-hour rentals allow residents to enjoy time outdoors with friends and family, paddleboarding across Adventure Lake, or biking along our miles of trails that wind throughout the picturesque community. Staying active has never been more fun at Meridiana.
