Working with the land’s natural contours creates a more beautiful landscape. As it matures it will only get better, becoming habitat for birds, fish, and of course outdoorsy humans. Letting the land tell us what it wants to be serves a practical purpose, too. We let water flow through the community in a more natural state in something we call, bayou elegance, that puts every home above a 500-year floodplain. This proved more than effective during Hurricane Harvey. Then we wove the lakes and parks together with bridges and pathways.

As part of the Alvin Independent School District, and with the new Meridiana Elementary School on site, the kids of Meridiana benefit from a first-class education. Here, however, the classroom is everywhere with learning opportunities incorporated throughout the community. From the sun-tracking Meridian Tower, to a series of Learning Labs that stoke natural curiosity kids have so much fun they hardly realize they’re getting smarter.

LIFESTYLE COORDINATOR
We are excited to have a full-time, on-site Lifestyle Coordinator at Meridiana! Sort of like a cruise ship director for the community, they are here to make sure your days are eventful in all the right ways with over a hundred events, every year! For instance, the annual Blues, Brews & BBQ, which brings local craft beer, Texas-style barbeque and live music together, is planned by our Lifestyle Coordinator. They also work closely with the Meridiana Elementary Principal to make sure it’s smooth sailing for all things Meridiana. The best part of the job? Watching residents go from neighbor to friend at events we have organized.
