As Meridiana builds out Houston’s only community of new homes dedicated to education for all life stages, its school district partner Alvin ISD continues to climb the rankings of the Houston-area’s best school districts, according to a new study by Niche.com.
The annual rankings are based on key statistics and reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores and teacher quality.
Modern, new schools located within or adjacent to Meridiana play a big part in improving the District’s outcomes. In fact, studies show students who attend newly constructed schools show significant improvements in standardized test scores, attendance rates and overall effort.
Meridiana families attend the onsite Meridiana Elementary, opened in 2016; the onsite Jackie Doucet Caffey Junior High School, opened in 2021; and Iowa Colony High School, which opened adjacent to the community in 2022. Meridiana remains the only Texas 288 community with all three levels of education within or adjacent to the community.
In addition to opening modern and convenient new schools, Alvin ISD was instrumental in collaborating with Meridiana’s development team to create outdoor community learning labs where residents of all ages can study the earth’s movement, the solar system, principles of gravity and velocity, wildlife habitats and more.
One of the nation’s 50 top-selling master-planned communities, Meridiana is conveniently located minutes south of Pearland. To reach the community, take the Meridiana Parkway exit from Texas 288, just minutes south of Pearland, heading north or south.
